I have been rather remiss in celebrating this prestigious award!

Back in October 2017, at the Association of Dispensing Opticians New Zealand (ADONZ) Annual Conference held in Christchurch, I was awarded the Robert Maher* Award.

This shield is awarded annually for recognition of service to the industry. A very humbling moment for me as ADONZ has been a large part of my life for the last 10+ years.

To recap my involvement:

2006 – 2007 Member of the Continuing Professional Development Committee

2007 – 2009 Member of the Executive Council

2009 – 2012 Vice President of ADONZ

2012 – 2014 President of ADONZ

2012 – 2014 Vice President of the International Opticians Association

2014 – 2016 President of the International Opticians Convention in Auckland as my grand finale.

I was humbled to receive this recognition because when you are passionate about something you love and you have grown and developed personally and professionally, surely that is the deserved award!

*Robert Maher was a Dispensing Optician who achieved great things for the association and laid the foundation for such a strong association. Sadly, Robert passed away, so this is how the Association remembers him and his determination to succeed.
